The New GT350: A Supercharged 5.0-Liter V-8 Marvel with Over 810 HP

The all-new GT350 is equipped with a supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine inspired by the melodic “Voodoo” engine. The track-ready GT350R boasts over 830 horsepower.

Shelby American has introduced the new GT350 and GT350R models, delivering 810 and over 830 horsepower, respectively, from their supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engines. The GT350R’s high aerodynamics, integrated roll cage, and copious amounts of carbon fiber make it a street-legal race vehicle.

Despite not being a Ford car, the most recent GT350 is covered by Ford’s powertrain warranty and will be sold at some Ford dealerships. The supercharged GT350 has a starting MSRP of $109,999.

A Legacy Reborn

Nearly 60 years ago, the legendary Carroll Shelby unveiled the first Ford Mustang bearing his name, the Shelby GT350, launching a legacy of high-performance Shelby-branded pony cars. Now, the GT350 name is back—but this time, it’s a beast crafted not by Ford but by Shelby American, a direct descendant of Shelby’s original shop.

Under the Hood

Beneath its vented hood lies a supercharged version of the Mustang’s 5.0-liter V-8. This engine elevates the Mustang Dark Horse’s 500 horsepower to a staggering 810 horsepower in the GT350. Unlike the naturally aspirated flat-plane-crank 5.2-liter V-8 “Voodoo” engine of the 2020 GT350, this model is all about raw supercharged power.

In addition, the GT350 has an aggressive front fascia with lots of intakes and grilles, a revised exhaust system, and a changed suspension. Its intention to be track-ready is indicated by a noticeable rear wing. Shelby American will also provide a 480-horsepower, supercharger-free version of the GT350 for individuals who prefer less power. There will be options for both manual and automatic transmissions.

GT350R: Track-Ready Performance

The GT350R is a street-legal, track-focused car with more than 830 horsepower. It is limited to a six-speed manual transmission and features lightweight materials such as racing seats with harnesses and carbon-fiber interior components.

Track-ready modifications include an integrated roll cage, improved brakes, an enhanced aerodynamic setup, and adjustable track suspension. Many of the GT350R’s components will also appear in a future Trans Am-spec race car slated to join the series in the 2026 season.

Limited Production and Pricing

Shelby American will produce just 562 units of the GT350 in 2025, matching the production figure of the 1965 GT350. The supercharged GT350 will start at $109,999, with production beginning in the second quarter of this year. Sales will be conducted through select Ford dealerships, with the vehicles covered by Ford’s powertrain warranty and an additional three-year, 36,000-mile warranty from Shelby American.

With only 36 units anticipated, the GT350R will be even more uncommon than the 1965 model. The track-focused vehicle, manufactured by Tier 1 Automotive/Motorsports in Michigan, will be white with configurable stripes and graphics packages. The GT350R’s price has not yet been revealed.
